The Project so far: May 2017
The WARR Partnership has received over two hundred
enquiries so far under the current Programme.
The WARR Partnership was
one of the first to launch the latest LEADER Funding Programme in October
2015 and as at 12th May 2017 has received 18 Full Applications. Of these, 17
have progressed through the competitive process to be awarded grants
totalling £397,458.38; the WARR Partnership was the joint first group to
award grants. Of these grants, 7 have now been paid, totalling £150,070.32.
The grants have assisted with the purchase of equipment for a new farm shop
and café; machinery for a forester to extract timber from environmentally
sensitive woodland; mobile sheep handling and performance monitoring to
improve flock performance; expansion of a retail business into the
production of wholesale pies, pasties, etc., using local produce; an
accessible holiday let.
Partnership Chairman Hamish Monro commented,
“We are pleased with the range of projects coming forward under the latest
round of LEADER funding. The grants approved so far have been excellent
value for public money, leading to business growth and new jobs that would
otherwise have not been created. We would encourage other projects to come
forward and take advantage of the funding available over the next two
Grants are mainly for capital items such as
equipment and are for a maximum 40% of the cost. The minimum grant is £2,500
and the maximum £50,000. The funding is competitive, with a total of
approximately £500,000 available each financial year to March 2019.
